Worried About Pipes Freezing?

With the current cold temperatures, the risk of water line freeze-up is a concern for some homeowners.  If you think your home may be at risk of freezing, you should check existing heat tape to make sure it is operating.  Make sure plumbing in cold areas is properly insulated and fitted with heat tape.  Persons living in mobile homes, homes that have unheated crawl spaces and homes with unused basements have the greatest risk of water line freeze-up.

Running a small stream of water from a sink faucet will also help prevent water lines from freezing.  Flushing toilets and running sinks every couple of hours also keeps plumbing a little warmer.  Remember once temperatures rise it takes a few days to warm up under your home.
