Jerry Calvin was born, raised and attended school in McCook, Nebraska.  He is one of four siblings in the Calvin family.  Jerry and his wife, Robin, have three children:  Michelle, Sarah and Brian.

Jerry was selected as a council member to the McCook City Council in October, 2009, to complete the term left vacant by Jack Rogers’ early resignation.

From January, 1981 to November, 1984, Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps.  During his service, he was stationed in Camp Lejevne, North Carolina and Iwakuni, Japan.  His highest ranking received was Corporal.  He was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan, from November 1983 to October 1984 as a member of the Military Police aboard the Station.  Based upon the observations of a the Station Trial Counsel (who is the equivalent to a District Attorney), Corporal Calvin was considered “hardworking, honest, and fair with a good sense of justice and an excellent “street presence”” and “always performed his duties in an exemplary manner”.  He was qualified as an Expert Marksman with the M16A1 two years in a row while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and was also qualified as a Sharpshooter with the .45 automatic while in the Corps. 

Jerry served for more than 23 years on the McCook Police Department from July, 1985 to November, 2008.  He not only served as Police Officer, but as Resource Officer for the public school system and was the first McCook Police Officer to handle the D.A.R.E. program in McCook.  In 1990, Jerry was voted “Employee of the Year” by his peers.

Jerry left the police department for a change of pace in 2008 and has been working as a Consumer Rep for PepsiCo since.
